Sandalwood

Over centuries and cultures sandalwood has been a very prized ingredient for both it's grounding and clarifying aromatherapy as well as it's physical benefits for healing wounds and reducing signs of skin aging and inflammation. Being such a popular and sought out ingredient has put sandalwood in the position of being faced with the threat of extinction due to mismanaged and exploitative harvesting practices as well as becoming victim to climate change. Fortunately Western Australia has moved to creating sandalwood cultivation plantations that work closely with indigenous harvesters and regional conservation groups to reduce impact on native wildlife and the environment.                                                                                     The Red Sandalwood powder I use in this soap comes from these plantations and is imported from a company that I know and trust. The sandalwood powder combined with bitter orange powder and turmeric make this bar a powerhouse of antioxidants with amazing exfoliation that is great for brightening and rejuvenating dull skin. Rather than using sandalwood essential oil, I use a blend of Amyris which is a resinous essential oil also known as Torchwood native to Haiti which is very similar in scent profile to sandalwood, as well as frankincense, cedarwood, patchouli and lemon for a warm and earthy combination of wood and musk with a hint of citrus.

I use natural, organic, and sustainably and responsibly sourced ingredients. All soaps are free of synthetic colorants, fragrances and preservatives, and always made free of palm oil. All of the goat milk in my soap comes from my very own goats that I hand milk every day, are fed an organic diet and spend their days frolicking in the woods living their best lives. Goat milk is an amazing ingredient for skin care as it works as a gentle exfoliating cleanser which is rich in fatty acids that help to support healthy skin and makes for a rich creamy and luxurious soap lather.
